Daily Updates
From Monday 12th March 2012 we started publishing a new dataset
every day, five days a week, Monday to Friday, providing greater
flexibility to choose when to download the data.
This significant change to our Data delivery has been in response
to feedback from some of our customers and we hope this will
prove to be an advantage for everyone.
After driving the Nissan Leaf and more recently the Renault Kangoo EV it has confirmed the stance IDS have taken on replacement mileages for brakes and tyres on all electric vehicles. It’s entirely possible, with a bit of forward planning, to do the majority of a journey without troubling the braking system. The regenerative braking was of sufficient strength that it seems more likely brake discs will have to be replaced through corrosion than through wear.
Sticking with EV’s, current calculations between an electric vehicle and its equivalent diesel model have the electric vehicle running at around 59% of SMR cost over 3 years / 30,000 miles. That’s a significant saving, potential battery cost notwithstanding, which only gets better the longer it’s run due to the lack of parts to wear out.
AUCTION DATA – These are busy places with almost every auction being well attended and a noticeable increase in the ‘On Line’ bidding for conversion into a sale. The volumes of used ‘clean’ 3 & 4 year old vehicles in the market place is down from the normal first quarter of a year because of low sales 3-4 years ago. The recession led to manufacturers slowing production and in general this has been the main factor in retaining higher used values – something which we forecast at the time! Fuel prices are also responsible for an increase in values of more compact and fuel efficient vehicles. The only real bargains out in the market place are larger gas guzzlers.
